the A character as the disconnect digit. Since a caller cannot dial an A from a telephone. This feature
eliminates callers from causing an accidental disconnect by dialing this digit on their telephone’s dial
pad.
Voice Announce Blocking
This feature allows the user of multiline telephones to block voice announced intercom calls by
dialing a special code or by pressing a programmed button.
Voice Mail Ports
When connecting a voice mail system to a digital telephone system, you must identify the station
intercom number of each voice mail connection and link these numbers together to form a circular
hunt group for call-handling purposes. 64 station intercom numbers are available for voice mail
connection.
You can map a Transfer To Voice Mail button on system telephones. A system user presses this
button to transfer an incoming call directly to a voice mailbox. In mapping the button, you type
XVM plus a two-digit code for one of the voice mail ports. You can map buttons XVM01 through
XVM64.
If networking is enabled, the system reserves voice mail port 64 for centralized voice mail on the
hub. This parameter has the following two consequences:
• You must not use voice mail port 64 for local node voice mail when networking is enabled.
The system ignores any parameters programmed for that port.
• You must use port 64 for a Transfer to Voice Mail button if you want this button to transfer
to centralized voice mail. VMMI allows you to program XVM64 to create a button for
transferring calls to centralized voice mail, but prevents you from programming voice mail
port 64 in a networking database.
Volume Control Range for Hearing Impaired Users
The internal circuitry of certain Comdial proprietary telephones meet Federal Communications
Commission volume control requirements for hearing impaired users.
The following Impact SCS telephones have no compression in the handset/headset port:
Comdial recommends that users employ an appropriate headset amplifier when using headsets with
the telephones listed above.
The Impact SCS 8212N and 8201N telephones have a maximum handset volume control range of
eight steps. Older versions of these telephones do not provide handset volume control.
